Temporary Labyrinth at Central Park (2000)
In the Spring of 2000, the City of Burlington approved the installation of a temporary labyrinth as a pilot municipal project. As the second labyrinth in Canada to be installed in a public park, this project has been maintained, promoted, and programmed based on the efforts of community volunteers and donations. Visionscapes is pleased to have been able to provide design and facilitation services to support this local landmark. The labyrinth was constructed by volunteers with many donated materials. Justine Giuliani coordinated these efforts after Visionscapes prepared a plan, determined acceptable materials for the location and use and facilitated the construction with volunteers. This labyrinth is a 7-circuit classic labyrinth with a double wide centre. Materials used were woodchip mulch for the surface and hand-placed 2” to 4” diameter river rocks to delineate the paths.
Permanent Labyrinth Project (2002-2003)
Visionscapes has been hired to design a permanent labyrinth feature at Central Park. This labyrinth will be built in partnership with the City of Burlington.
