Residential Garden 2

This residential project is a terrific example of transforming a long asphalt driveway into a lovely side kitchen garden. The challenge was to create space for vegetables and year round interest. A combination of stone and brick pillars with a cedar fence enclosed the garden, creating a sense of privacy from the street. A window filled with latticework allows in light and a glimpse of the sculpture on the side of the fence.

With night lighting, the sculpture is accented on the inside of the garden while providing a sense of mystery and intrigue looking from the street and driveway. As one enters through the brick arch, the garden is revealed with vegetable and herb beds bounded by flagstone paths, boxwood and yew plantings, a stone wall with carved stone water sculpture spilling into a dark pool filled with brightly coloured fish. Curved stone steps allow access to the back garden and the side door while allowing bicycles to be wheeled to the garden shed.
